The assignment for this self-portrait was capturing yourself in an early stage of your career in the process of defining your style and path as an artist.

Done in a very transitional period of my life indeed, this painting allowed me to come the closest to how I currently picture my style and the main personal challenge - finding the balance between realism and a looser expressionistic approach.
